Rep. Walker is a pro-choice champion for women! She consistently votes in favor of policies that support a full-range of reproductive issues, from expanding contraceptive access to defending the right to choose.
In addition to her record of voting with women and families, Rep. Walker introduced two pieces of legislation we supported in 2018: HB 1616, which would provide substance abuse treatment to postpartum women for one year after birth under the Show-Me Healthy Babies program, and HB 2093, which would authorize a tax credit for certain contraception costs.
HB 2093 was not passed but though HB 1616 itself was also not passed, the latter bill was combined with a few similar bills to form HB 2280, which expands MO HealthNet benefits for postpartum women to receive substance abuse treatment for up to 12 months after giving birth. HB 2280 was passed this session!
