The NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri team has dedicated our lives to fight for the inherent dignity and ability of every person to decided if, when, how, and with whom to start or grow a family. We fight to protect and expand reproductive rights, in order to ensure reproductive freedom for everybody. But as a historically white organization with a predominantly white membership, we have a long path ahead to fulfill our commitment of building an organization and movement that truly reflects our communities across Missouri. We commit ourselves to being anti-racist; to growing, learning—and unlearning—and fighting against structural oppression and entrenched white supremacy every day.
We know that real change requires action, not only words. Myself, our team, and our boards are committed to embodying the change we wish to see in the world—starting with our own organization. We commit to cultivating a transformative culture within our staff, board, and membership that builds authentic relationships and intentionally centers the leadership, lived experiences, and voices of marginalized communities across Missouri.
We do this work in service of our vision of a Missouri where people live self-determined lives and maintain their bodily autonomy, free from violence and oppression. We do this work because it’s the only way we can ensure reproductive freedom is truly for everybody, everywhere.
