MISSOURI—Today, the Missouri House of Representatives voted to pass a clean Federal Reimbursement Allowance (FRA), without restrictions on reproductive healthcare services or providers. This bill will not only make sure that Missourians who rely on Medicaid will have access to critical reproductive healthcare, including basic methods of contraception, but will also secure funding for the state’s entire Medicaid program.

“Today is a victory for Missourians across the state. We are glad to see lawmakers reaffirm the fundamental freedom of all people to make personal decisions about their body, health, and future, and pass a clean FRA without harmful bans on contraceptive coverage or access to Planned Parenthood providers. This win was made possible by the bipartisan leadership of women and a coalition of advocates working to ensure that access to healthcare is not dependent on someone’s income or zip code. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri has been fighting attempts to roll back reproductive freedom for decades, and we know our work is far from over. This failed attack on birth control is just one dangerous part of the anti-abortion movement’s ideological and unpopular agenda. Whether it’s attacking birth control, robbing hundreds of thousands of Missourians of affordable healthcare, or banning abortion, their goal is to maintain power and control by any means necessary.
