Three thousand. That’s approximately the number of doors Kristen Weber knocked ahead of the August 4th election cycle. From stomping for candidates and running a non-profit, to making waves as Committeewoman in Meramec Township, this NARAL Missouri Board Member is always fighting for reproductive freedom. Learn more about Kristen below!
1. What brought you to NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri and what encourages you to keep fighting for reproductive freedom?
I came to NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri to ensure my time and energy goes to candidates and policy work that focuses on reproductive freedom. I am forever encouraged to be a part of this community because they are dedicated to making sure Roe is not a ceiling, but a floor on which to build.
2. What reproductive freedom mean to you?
Reproductive freedom to me is about reproductive healthcare access for all. You can’t have a choice without access, so we need to ensure barriers are knocked down and systematic wrongs are corrected.
3. You are a newly elected committeewoman! How will you center reproductive freedom in that work?
I plan to find a common ground on which to bring reproductive freedom conversations to the table. Everyone is at different places with their comfort zone, but doing the work authentically, I believe we can bring reproductive healthcare policy to the party platform.
4. What got you into political advocacy?
My mother would say when I petitioned my elementary teacher for new seating arrangements.
5. Can you tell us a little bit about your non-profit organization, L.I.F.E. Foundation?
Non-profit I started in 2009 for early literacy programs that provide books mirroring the lives of children with characters and voices that reflect them. We build home libraries with diverse stories so all children can see themselves in the pages. Our POP UP Library is “St. Louis famous” and will celebrate 100,00 books donated next year.
