ST. LOUIS, MO — Today, St. Louis Circuit Judge Michael Stelzer granted an order allowing Reproductive Healthcare Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region — the state’s last remaining abortion clinic — to continue providing abortion care. Another hearing on the matter is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4. Following the news, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Mallory Schwarz issued the following statement:

“Today’s decision to grant a temporary restraining order to Missouri’s last abortion provider and keep the clinic open brings a sigh of relief to Missourians across the state. For now, Missourians are able to receive the reproductive health care they need, want and deserve.”

“While this is a victory for women and families in Missouri, the fight for reproductive freedom is never over. For decades, anti-choice extremists have been harassing, intimidating and criminalizing doctors out of providing safe, legal abortion. They’ve pushed excessive and medically unnecessary restrictions designed to shut down clinics and push abortion out of reach for millions of Missourians. The war being waged against these compassionate providers of abortion care is unacceptable and must be stopped.”

“NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri stands in support of Planned Parenthood as they continue to fight against cruel and persistent attacks from Governor Parson and the state. We will continue to push back on efforts to restrict access to safe, legal abortion and continue to lead the fight for reproductive freedom in Missouri.”
