St. Louis, MO – On Monday, September 10, at 9:00 a.m., Reproaction – a direct action group formed to increase access to abortion and advance reproductive justice, will join NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri to lead a “sit out” direct action at Senator Claire McCaskill’s St. Louis office located at 5850 Delmar Blvd. Senator McCaskill has yet to state how she will vote on Judge Kavanagh’s nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States.

When Donald Trump ran for president, he said he would elect ‘pro-life’ Supreme Court justices – that means justices who would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and decimate the right to legal abortion. We took him at his word then, and now that time is upon us. Judge Kavanaugh is unacceptable, and deciding to oppose his nomination is not a tough call. Activists will sit outside Senator McCaskill’s office to urge her to vote “NO” on Kavanaugh, as they highlight the importance of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling and the Affordable Care Act.

WHO: Reproaction and NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri
WHAT: A Sit-Out direct action to urge Sen. McCaskill to vote NO on Kavanaugh
WHEN: Monday, September 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
WHERE: Senator Claire McCaskill’s Office, 5850 Delmar Blvd A, St. Louis, MO 63112
VISUALS: Signs displaying the importance of Roe v Wade and the Affordable Care Act

The United States Senate is the only government body standing between the American people and a judge nominee who would most certainly vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius, which would respectively repeal the legal status of abortion care and the Affordable Care Act. Judge Kavanaugh has also expressed troubling views on extending presidential powers to include the ability to self-pardon. We want Senator McCaskill to side with the majority of her constituents and vote “NO!” on the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
