Alison Dreith, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director, is Arrested in Nation’s Capital, Protesting SCOTUS Nominee

NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director Alison Dreith was arrested today in civil disobedience action at the United States Supreme Court and released the following statement:

“We know what is on the line for thousands of Missouri women if Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed to a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court,” said NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director Alison Dreith. “This is an opportunity for Senator McCaskill to lead and do what is right for Missouri women and families by voting no on Kavanaugh’s nomination. I am willing to put my body on the line if it means protecting fundamental freedoms of women for generations to come and I know that seven in 10 Americans are standing with me in solidarity.”

Confirmation hearings begin today for Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who would be a surefire vote to gut Roe v. Wade, criminalize abortion, and punish women. With only a fraction of his record being released late last night, thousands of Americans are refusing to let the anti-choice Trump administration hide Kavanaugh’s record and the threat to our fundamental freedoms. Kavanaugh was chosen because of his extensive anti-choice record. If confirmed thousands of Missouri women are at risk of being punished when they gut and overturn Roe v. Wade and criminalize abortion.
