Prop A was defeated and pro-choice candidates took home wins
ST. LOUIS, MO — Voters in Tuesday’s Missouri Primary Election took the opportunity to show that pro-choice candidates are a priority across the state. Thirty-eight candidates from NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri’s 2018 Primary Ballot Guide won their races today.
“Today’s election results prove what we’ve been saying all along: Missouri voters want to send pro-choice champions to Jefferson City,” said Alison Dreith, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director. “Our endorsed candidates fought incredibly hard to represent their districts and kept reproductive freedom at the forefront of their platforms. We could not be more proud of the hard work everyone put into their campaigns and we’re looking forward to keeping the momentum going into November.”
Key wins took place in competitive primary races for House Districts 71 (LaDonna Appelbaum), 72 (Doug Clemens), 73 (Raychel Proudie), 85 (Kevin Windham, Jr.), 86 (Maria Chappelle-Nadal) and 87 (Ian Mackey). A vast majority of these winning candidates will be fresh faces in the Missouri General Assembly this fall.
Tonight’s wins reaffirm that despite the Missouri Democratic Party lowering their priority on reproductive rights, Missourians want representatives who will stand up for reproductive freedom. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri will continue to support our endorsed candidates as they work to win their general elections in November.
