ST. LOUIS — NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri PAC today announced it is endorsing Tishaura Jones in the race for Mayor of St. Louis City.
“Tishaura Jones trusts Missouri’s women to make our own decisions about our health care and our families. She knows that women’s healthcare, including access to safe and legal abortion, are matters that are best left between a woman, her family, and her doctor, not politicians,” said Alison Dreith, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri. “Ms. Jones has been a champion for women and families throughout her career, including in the state legislature and in the treasurer’s office. Time and time again, she has shared her own reproductive health story, as a patient at Planned Parenthood, and we trust her to protect and expand women’s rights, in St. Louis City, where the state’s last remaining abortion clinic stands.”
“NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is one of the strongest voices in the state for women. I am honored by their trust in me at a moment when women’s rights are being threatened at both the state and local levels. I strongly support Board Bill 203 which would strengthen the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance by making pregnancy and reproductive health protected classes ensuring that no woman in St. Louis could be legally fired, demoted, or lose her pay based upon decisions about her health. Paired with greater protections for women seeking healthcare at Planned Parenthood, paid family leave for employees of the City of St. Louis, and a plan to have city government reach out to every child born here, it is my intention to make St. Louis a sanctuary for women and their families,” said Jones.
